It’s lovely to have you here! This is David Coverdale’s very own home on the web, and is a meeting place for anyone interested in him and his music. You can relax and enjoy good conversation as if you were in his very own living room. And this IS David’s own ‘virtual’ living room, and he treats it so. Each guest is given the same courtesy that they can expect in David's own home. In return he does expect each guest to behave, and to treat others here with the utmost respect. I will underline the word UTMOST!!! This is very important to a message board of this sort. So I will list a few common problems we have had over the years and ask you to be a part of making sure they don’t continue to happen: ‘Yak, yak, yak’ we all want to talk don’t we? And this BBS is a great place to meet people that we want to talk with. But keep the talking here to a bare minimum, and make sure your postings are directed to EVERYONE on the board, not just one other member. This is after all, about Whitesnake, David Coverdale and music in general. Use good taste and you won’t go wrong. It sometime takes a great deal of courage for a new person to post especially if English is not their first language, and these are the people we especially encourage to be here. But if others use this as a 'chat' area then those postings quickly vanish from sight in the back pages. Remember, there is no "in-crowd" here, this is for all people and not just a few. Limit the number of postings you make on any given day.... you be the judge, but please use good judgement. If you would like to have further conversations with others you meet here you can try the Chat. There are also many other tools on the web for this like ICQ, Messenger and thousands of other chat sites. I encourage it; but again, not on the BBS!!! The Grand Notions of Democracy and Free speech…. Do not apply here. This is neither a public square nor a government-sponsored institution. I am sure if Plato were alive today he would have something to say on this matter… and say it in Greek as well! The most common response I have gotten as a Webmaster when I have curtailed what I consider to be rude, cruel or inflammatory speech is “I was just expressing my opinion, I have the right to say what I want”. Well in that case you too can have your very own website (www.geocities.com is a good place to get one), there you can say what you will. But here the expectations are different. As with everything else in a civil world; thoughtfulness, empathy and a tasteful choice of words will get you far. Lack of these virtues will result in you being asked to leave. Certainly I cannot define exactly what these virtues are, that was your Mothers job. But ultimately I am the arbiter of what fits, and if I spot a behavior that I don’t feel is appropriate I will let you know. If you have any questions about my judgment please feel free to write me and let me know your feelings. I assure you, there is nothing you can say in an email (not on the BBS) that will shock or offend me. What happens when someone just won’t stop bullying or being obnoxious? Often they try to stir controversy by bringing up rumor and innuendo, usually at the expense of another person. There are those people from time to time, and they can become a real problem. I ask you please to not respond in kind to them, or try to defend David or the others they are ‘attacking’… it only results in making an uncomfortable ‘mess’ of the board. Simply bring it to my attention and I will see what I can do. There are those also that are mentally unfit, and obviously so. The Internet can become a forum of expression that attracts them. Again, I ask you only to bring it to my attention. Do not try to change or ‘fix’ them. Having problems with anything on the site? Be sure to let me know. Sometimes there are problems with different browsers, or Computers, or... God forbid... I have made a mistake!!! If you let me know I will be my best to iron things out. If you just have a general gripe about the site itself... and I do get those (the current layout is ...well... different), my suggestion is that you find another site that is more to your liking. There are literally thousands on the web, and each one is looking to find new and loyal users. I'm with you, there isn't enough time to waste on sites that just don't satisfy me. You can start here.
