The Helsinki Show

This was my seventh Whitesnake show since 1994. Whitesnake is as good as ever. Somebody asked me rating of the show. I said that I don´t give ratings to WS shows, I just go and enjoy them. And that I did! The band was smiling and everybody had good time with those snake songs. There were a lot of young members in the audience and fathers, mothers and boys and girls... so I think 30 years of rock aint´t enough for Whitesnake... MS

The Helsinki Show

Before this concert I had seen WS twice and when I heard that my girlfriend had bought us the tickets as my birthday present I was really blown away. Going to see the band I truly had grown up with since my early teenage years, with the most lovely woman I've ever known...(must sound a cliche! ..I don't mind..) Nice night to follow indeed... But to the show... I'd listened to the new album about two or three times before the concert and thought "Smooth and rocking" but at that point I couldn't compare it to the classics like 'Ready An' Willing', 'Love Hunter' etc. When the show started with 'Best Years' I recognized it in no time and was like "This really sounds tight live". It really was a fiery opening.. Going through songs from four decades with fresh new setlist (with the 'must play hits' of course) ... I was incredibly pleased. This was showing the versatility and great history of the band. Especially the acoustics were superb. When I heard the first chords of my all time favourites 'Ain't Gonna Cry No More' and the beautiful 'Soldier Of Fortune' I almost found myself crying at the same time as singing along, by my honeys ear. Truly unforgettable night! Snakes rocked tight when they needed to rock tight, entertained as only a few can... And the most important thing... Laughed and ENJOYED playing all the time, SHARING the JOY they felt with the audience... Dear God... Possibly one of the best live bands ever.. Thank you David. Thank you snakes for a night to remember. Finland sure wishes you well!

Grrrrrrreat! Whitesnake was awesome. Doug Aldrich, Reb Beach and the drummer Chris Frazier did great solos. The best songs were: Give Me All Your Love, Ain`t No Love in the Heart of the City, Burn, The Deeper The Love, Ain`t Gonna Cry No More and Soldier of Fortune. I really liked that!!!!!

Whitesnake is a good band and it is hard to find any contributing critique. They played many new songs, maybe 5-6 from the new album. I am a big fan of Whitesnake 70’s and 80’s material and I have every WS LP except Northwinds (okay, as a Fin I should buy it… : ). In fact it is nice to notice, how these new songs worked pretty well with the old songs building a coherent concert. To me the song Best Years introducing a kind of modern Whitesnake and I like its straight heavy blues style somehow. However, the most interesting songs in my opinion were those from the end side of the GTBB album. Then a new thing was the new drummer. I think Chris did a good job and he is quite a technical drummer while their former drummer was more a power drummer. Both are good in their own category. I was thinking that Chris has many interesting things in store to show. I am myself a big Ian Paice fan and Chris could be an interesting drummer to follow, what he is doing in next years. I do not know much from guitar playing, but sometimes I miss in guitar solos some themes, which give the structure to solos and build even more interesting musically solutions to wonder. Okay, I think I’ve seen too many ”the most fastest guitar solo competitions” during these two years in Finland and I just enjoy more nowadays the theme solos, which are constructed like for example the Snake dance. It is an interesting base for guitar solo and makes me think the great Lovehunter for example. But as I said, this WS is a good band and their gig was a great event and they played very well together. David's sound began to be as legendary as Howling Wolf (with most respect..). Thanks again!

The Helsinki Show

This must be the best year in my life! Think about it, this was second time to see Whitesnake in this year in Finland. It's definitely more than I can ask for. And talking about gig, there were every needed elements to have a great and enjoyable evening and the result was unbelievable. I loved every second of it and the setlist was perfect, a very nice mix of brilliant new songs and legendary old ones. As I wrote earlier to Poor Albert, whenever you are touring in future in Europe, please come back to Helsinki, we are here waiting for you, for Whitesnake and especially for David Coverdale! WHITESNAKE ROCK FOREVER!
